LVMH supports Covid-19 emergency converting perfume factories2 min read

To deal with the coronavirus emergency, LVMH has announced that will convert its factories and perfume laboratories to produce sanitizing gel to be distributed free of charge to French hospitals, with particular attention to public facilities in Paris.

As a matter of fact, France – as long as the other nations involved in the emergency – faces the difficulty in finding sanitizing gel together with the government which has imposed a fixed sale price to stop the speculation of those who sold it at higher prices. It has convinced the giant led by Bernard Arnault to help the country out and made itself available. Where before chemists and other employees worked to compose new fragrances for brands like Christian Dior, Guerlain, and Givenchy, from today they will make themselves available to public health using the knowledge, structures, and products available to them to help as much as possible.

Given the risk of a shortage of hydroalcoholic gel in France, Bernard Arnault has instructed the LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics business to prepare its production sites to manufacture substantial quantities of hydroalcoholic gel to be provided to public authorities.

LVMH will therefore use all the production facilities of its Perfumes & Cosmetics brands (Parfum, Christian Dior, Guerlain and Parfums Givenchy) in France to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gel from Monday.

The gel will be delivered free of charge to the French health authorities and as a priority from this Monday to the Assistance Publique-Hopitaux de Paris.

Through this initiative, LVMH intends to help address the risk of a lack of product in France and enable a greater number of people to continue to take the right action to protect themselves from the spread of the virus.

LVMH will continue to honour this commitment for as long as necessary, in connection with the French health authorities.

A commendable choice by the luxury group that will bring the factories to produce around 12 tons of gel in the first week and that “will continue as long as necessary”.
